About

the Guide

Hi, I am Kyle Schweer, a South Dakota Fishing Guide with more than 20 years of angling experience. I started fishing the waters of the Glacial Lakes Region of South Dakota at a very young age, and have a passion for everything outdoors. I am a tournament fisherman competing in the upper midwest. (Check out my facebook page to see where I am fishing next.) I take great pride in being a knowledgeable and friendly guide that strives to make each guided trip a great experience for every client.

My goal is to put you in the best position for a successful catch. I fish these lakes regularly and combine my intuition with some of the best fishing equipment on the market to help you find success.

While a great experience is the key focus, I offer more. You will leave your day on the water, with the knowledge to make all your future trips more enjoyable. I will share my knowledge of where to find the fish, the best presentations (equipment) to use, and how to understand the information from the electronics.

Let me handle everything. The boat, gear, fishing, safety, where to go, what to use… the list goes on. When you hire me as a guide all you should need to do is FISH! Take the stress out of your next fishing trip and enjoy your experience, “It’s what we do”.

Most Popular Fishing Species

walleye

Walleye

In early spring Walleyes are most commonly targeted by pitching jigs tipped with live bait, or plastics. As the water temps begin to rise and the fish transition to deeper water, our tactics generally switch to trolling spinners with live bait and pulling plugs. When the cooler weather rolls in and the lakes ice starts to form the best fishing is always found with a live bait tipped jig.

SIZE: 1 to 10 lbs
Habitats: River, Lake
Bluegill

Bluegills

Bluegills can be targeted year round using live bait under a slip cork set-up, these aggressive panfish are often part of the bag while using the same rig set-ups to catch Walleyes.

SIZE: 0.5 to 2lbs
Habitats: River, Lake, Backcountry
Crappie

Crappie

My favorite way to chase crappies is pulling jig heads tipped with a minnow when the water temps are warm. They can also be caught year round near structure with a slip cork set-up or jig with live bait.

SIZE: 0.5 to 2lbs
Habitats: River, Lake
yellowtail

Perch (Yellow)

Perch are often caught along with multiple other species, while targeting walleyes year round. They are most often pursued in the warm waters of summer, and through the ice using jigs tipped with live bait. At times you just never know what is at the end of line, while fishing in the Glacial Lakes Region.
